BOOM! Studios Acquired by Penguin Random House

And DSTLRY goes exclusive with Diamond

BIG NEWS, Everyone! Well, it’s probably only big news if you’re a comic retailer - or you work(ed) for BOOM! Studios whose staff was told at an all-hands meeting this morning.

Apparently, getting into the comics distribution game has made sense for Penguin Random House since they’ve gone all in on the format, buying up BOOM! Studios, one of the bigger players in the independent and licensed comic publishing market.

There will be undoubtably be redundancies in the consolidation and good people will be out of work. It may also be more difficult to obtain other comics publishers that remain exclusive to Diamond Comics, who until very recently was the only name in the world of comics distro. Why you may ask?
