Vertigo + Kate Updates
I love book clubs. The whole idea is incredibly special. A group of individuals reading books on their own, in their own spaces and time and then coming together to talk through how the stories made them feel. It flips the script of reading being the exclusive realm of introverts.
Here are the books are two clubs are reading right now. There’s still plenty of time to catch up and join them. All books are in stock now, or awaiting a restock - so preorder!
VERTIGO

The Vertigo book club explores the classic 90s canon of DC’s Vertigo label (Swamp Thing, Sandman) as well as related high-concept horror-adjacent stories. This month they are reading:
Monstress Vol 2
Monstress was such a big hit that they’re back for more. In fact, it was so well received that they’re also reading…
The Night Eaters
This is a separate series from the same creative team. Smaller format, hardcover and perhaps even more visually stimulating. Transitioning away from Monstress’s fantasy and directly to horror, the gorgeous visuals belie the creepiness inside.
COMICS WITH KATE
Next meeting: June 8, 5PM
Comics with Kate is led by comic artist and SEQA professor Kate Sherron. They are helping to define the new canon of classic comics in the vein of Maus, Fraction’s Hawkeye and works by the Hernandez brothers.
Chromatic Fantasy
Silver Sprocket’s titles are always delightfully askew, and this one is no different. H.A.’s queer/trans romance won multiple awards for its re-envisioned classical fantasy.
