It’s been a week.
Summer afternoon storms in Savannah are nothing new. Sometimes, water gets in our (very old, not very well maintained) building. Typically, this happens through the picture window in the front and the window over the doorway. But on Monday, the rain didn’t drip from the ceiling or quietly pool on the sill. Instead, it came rushing under the door in a deluge.
If this is the new normal, with climate change making these storms more severe and insufficient infrastructure improvements downtown, we need to move.
Look, we were on the news:
Luckily, we have great people. Liz was working at the time of the incident and immediately went into action mode, putting out our sandbag, towels and buckets. But it was too much. Fletcher and Raymond came in to help bail water and we put out a silica-gel flood barrier for good measure. Fans ran all night. By the morning you (almost) couldn’t tell what happened.
So, here is the part where we remind you to show up and support. No one comes in to buy comics when it rains, much less when it pours. Shop online or pop by to say hello. Today would be awesome as we’re throwing a pizza party for TMNT #1. Get a free slice with any purchase until we run out.
XOXO,
Lee
